Eeyore may feel a little gloomy at times – it is hardly surprising when he lives in a corner of the Hundred Acre Wood known as the ‘Gloomy Place’ – but he has a kind and generous nature. Winnie the Pooh often comes across Eeyore and finds ways of cheering up the blue-grey donkey, and Eeyore accepts Pooh’s simple thinking.

Inspired by A. A. Milne’s classic stories, the seventh coin in the hugely popular Winnie the Pooh and Friends UK 50p Coin Collection will celebrate Eeyore, one of Pooh Bear’s closest companions. The design features a charming and original illustration by E. H. Shepard, who helped bring the adventures of Winnie the Pooh and his friends to life.
